Frequently Asked Questions
What tools and methods are used in training?
I subscribe to force-free, positive reinforcement-based training methods that prioritize the learner’s agency and cooperation. Training tools include: clickers or other event markers, food, toys, harnesses, long lines, and other equipment selected to support effective and humane learning. Prong collars, e-collars, choke chains, or other aversive tools will not be used or included in your dog’s training plan.
What's your service area for in-person training?
Because I provide daily dog walking services throughout North Seattle, I limit my travel for in-person training to ensure I maintain a sustainable schedule.
My in-person service area includes: MLT, Lynnwood, Edmonds, Laurelhurst, Pinehurst, Northgate, Roosevelt, Greenwood, Green Lake, Lake City, Matthews Beach, Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, and Ballard. (I don't travel south of the Ship Canal Bridge)
If you're outside this service area, please feel free to reach out to see if I can accommodate.
What's your payment plan option?
Training sessions are purchased in a package. You'll be pre-paying for the sessions to be scheduled at your convenience (through Calendly) and have multiple months to use all sessions in the package. The payment plan allows for a breakdown of the package cost with 50% due upon booking, and the remainder to be paid over time.
Email emily@cccwithemily.com to request a payment plan. No questions asked.
What should I expect during training sessions?
Each session begins with a chance to catch up since our last visit, followed by 1–3 skills to work on. I’ll provide live demonstrations of each step and coach you through the process. The goal is to teach each skill well and to make training fun and attainable. For each step, we'll train for 1-3 minutes, and end with a break before moving onto the next step. At the end of the session, you'll receive a written plan within 24-48 hours with a recap and what to work on next. The biggest breakthroughs occur between sessions!
